Ok, let's give it another go. I'm spreading out a little and hope to be intensive for a period to see what I think. Maybe someone will happen by and take an idea, or some such, forward from here and change the world, or not.

Hi Ho...
Well I try to write something every two months even when there is not that much to say. Life has been pretty simple, abundant and a little hot lately. Happens every year around this time, what's up with that? Not much to brag or complain about, but thought I'd say 'Hey'. Hey!
As Always...

Wonders never cease...
In a small business coup dennisRadio took Code to Joy's iStone to the next level. Once engineers at dennisRadio got a chance to actually get an iStone in their hands, they quickly felt there was a niche that had been overlooked. In cooperation with CtJ, dennisRadio is proud to announce the open source wiiStone. Less than a tenth the weight or size with all the power and almost all the capabilities of it's bigger brother. This is a form factor that fits todays fast moving pace, finally a true chat breakthrough. Additional details will soon be in the public's hands, stay tuned.

Say What...
Well I'd heard about the iStone. Now EB's stuff that happens site confirms it... the iStone is little more than a glorified paper weight. Some companies really have a lot of gall, they should call this thing the gallStone, not the iStone. Wait till Steve what's his name hears about this.

What about biofuels? (dpet)
9:48 AM (9 minutes ago)As biofuels boom, will more go hungry?
from Reuters: ScienceLONDON (Reuters) - Using plants to feed our fuel needs may be a great idea, and the biofuel goldrush could be a moneyspinner for several poor countries, but some experts warn people may go hungry as food prices rise.

Increase Your Mileage (dpet)
From loyal reader Dylan Bennett, some great tips on how to save gas and increase your miles-per-gallon.
- Slow down. Going even 5 miles an hour slower lowers gas consumption.
- Skip the AC. Your air conditioner uses lots of juice. Consider simply recycling the air within your car without the added A/C boost.
- Inflate your tires properly. Low tire pressures makes your car work harder. (But don't overinflate!)
- Accelerate Slowly. A slow, steady acceleration uses less gas than a quick speed jump.
Dylan's article also suggests that you use cruise control to save gas. Although this flies in the face of all the advice I've ever been given, CNN Money seems to agree. So consider using cruise control on long drives on level roads.

Ok, a bit of focus
I've decided what I want to rant about for awhile. As I see it there are a few things that are keeping the land that I love from being more. They currently are (in no particular order)
- Dependence on petroleum (dpet)
- Future costs of entitlements (fcen)
- Rural lack of broadband access (rlbb)
- Unsecured computers (cbot)
- Document the problems (dtpr)
- Cover possible solutions (cvps)
- Cover people in action (piat)

Thump, thump, thump
Have been wakened two or three mornings lately by a thump... thump, thump... Kinda like a dryer vent thump, but not. Seems a wild tom turkey has been seeing himself in our basement windows. I'm not sure the image has pleased him. Think he's wanting to pick a fight with the new guy in town, too bad he can't see that it's his reflection. Wifey has shooed him off, but figure that will not solve the real problem. Hope everyone's new year is starting off well. Maybe we'll have turkey for easter... maybe not...
