Can for-profit companies be a better health care choice than the govt? Then what's wrong with having a public option? The better companies will make their products more attractive... Think FEDEX, UPS... versus USPS...
Personally, from my view point they (health care insurance companies) seem more like T-Mobile, ATT, Verizon, Sprint...
- For example, why am I settling for a phone service that...
- Has lousy voice quality
- Randomly will not complete a dialed called
- Sporadically will just disconnect my current call
- Charges too much for the amount of bandwith I'm REALLY using
- Is more about having features that use up minutes, like call waiting, 3-way calling, call forwarding...
- Sells services beyond the capacity of their network
For profit companies get focused on the 'for profit' and they forget about real service (it is just not that profitable), so my measley dollars can not influence them to improve. In my opinion, no amount of govt oversight, will have any real benefit to me. Instead of my costs going
down or the quality of my choices going up, 'the companies' will not change, my cost will go up (for govt compliance)
Washington, please give me a public option that forces the insurance companies hand to improve or get out of the game.
